On Monday, August 30, 2021, Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS), MN Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA), MN Chief’s Association and the MN Sheriff’s Association took another step closer to a resolution of their joint lawsuit that the four law enforcement groups filed against Governor Walz and the State of Minnesota.

The lawsuit was filed to have the court order injunctive relief in regards to the constitutionality of the law change to the recently revised Use of Force statute.   During a 70-minute hearing, LELS General Counsel Mark Schneider presented the arguments to Ramsey County Chief Judge Leonardo Castro on behalf of all four (4) plaintiffs. After hearing the arguments from both sides, Judge Castro took the case under advisement and assured the plaintiffs that he would be providing his ruling earlier than the 90-day timeline allows, due to the importance of this issue.”
